The plug was pulled, the members split, and new forums were started. It was my understanding that the original forum was completely gone. However, I recently visited the url - http://z13.invisionfree.com/urubaen/index.php - and found a login page and a statement that the board was "no longer active". While this may just be me imagining a technicality where there isn't one, I was wondering if this means the boards are simply offline and could be switched back on, or if they're gone forever.

It is possible that your original site was deleted and someone else created an new one with the same url. If the site was deleted then the url would have been opened up again for someone else to use.
