CoD used to have awful game play. Recently the multiplayer has stepped up a bit (haven't done a campaign because I'm really good looking and don't have the time). I still think Battlefield 2 is the best multiplayer game I've ever played, and that's all I really buy the game for.

IMO Battlefield Bad Company is better than Battlefield 2... Possibly something to do with the fact I fail at BF2..... I'm definately getting MW2. Looks like they made some decent enough changes to the gameplay to warrant the price tag.

On another note, not sure if this true, but apparantly CoD:MW2 will be the last CoD game coming out on the Ps3, and the new maps for CoD:MW2 won't be available for download on the PS3.

Where did you hear this? It doesn't sound like Activision to miss out on milking things.

No, those are just rumors. Activision is not that stupid. If they did that, they'd be handing EA a silver platter with the title #1 on it. Everything Activision has a better EA counterpart. Skate for Tony Hawk. Medal of Honor for Call of Duty. Rock Band for Guitar Hero. I don't think anyone would miss Activision, but it's certainly not happening anyway. The shareholders would not allow such a stupid move.

As for COD, I always thought of it as a third-rate shooter ever since the first. Always generic. It's not a bad game by any means but I'd hold out a few months for MAG and Bad Company 2. COD really isn't very strategic either.

I've never been a big fan of the online FPS games. They're fun for about a week or two, then everyone who has been playing the game non-stop since release start kicking your ass. I prefer the single-player FPS games like Metroid and BioShock. :)

MW2 looks pretty good, though. I'm just glad they didn't do World War II AGAIN. :P

Medal of Honor for Call of Duty.
Medal of Honor isn't that great and lags behind Call of Duty if anything. I used to like Medal of Honor but Call of Duty definitely does it better.

I think they're pretty even, both just second-rate shooters. Medal of Honor used to be as popular, but COD just got way overhyped once it went Modern. I think Medal of Honor could regain its popularity if they made one for current consoles.

And in all of this discussion, my only thought is "I've never heard it referred to as "Call of Duty 6" before, by anyone."

It's a conspiracy!! :shifty:

The only decent MoH game I ever played was Frontline, and that is a very old game now. Admittedly, Call of Duty used to be fairly bad. But while CoD:WaW was overhyped, CoD4 was not. These days I can't stand playing WaW, but I still play CoD4(or at least I would if my XBL was working) In any case, it is impossible to say if a game is overhyped or not until it comes out. I think (hope) that MW2 will be as good or better than 4.

Kind of sad how they are screwing the PC version up royally. No dedicated servers, no mods, room for only 18-player games, and restricted options for performance. Kinda funny how a game that got so much right in the first one can do so horribly for the second one.

This is an interesting read on the history of the COD series:-

Hopefully Treyarch stops developing games in the CoD franchise (have they secured the game after MW2?) when this game explodes. The only reason World at War was successful was because it rode the CoD name IW helped created with COD2 and COD4.

Definitely an interesting read, Lout.
