leaves escape their spent branches
as they turn to red

Cold winds from the east
push leaves and hide the sun

I feel sorrow for having another summer gone
but I feel happy for the things I have done
swimming, sunbathing, having a blast
but this summer went by, it went by really fast

But the fall is now here
with all its beauty we all hold dear
the wind, the rain, the colors and all
that's what we call, yes we call it Fall

Embrace this moment of year
Because it's lovely
and it makes you forget, forget all your fear

Children play in piles of colorful leaves top to bottom.
It's finally that time of year, the beginning of autumn.
Time to grab costumes, Halloween is here.
Ring the doorbell, and say trick or treat, you get candy from this cheer.

November arrives, it's starting to get cold.
Your unfinished candy starts to mold.
The apple pie's smell goes outside from a breeze,
Thanksgiving is here, eat with or without ease.

But before you know it, the Holidays come to town.
And you wake goodbye to fall, you sigh with a frown.
No need to fret, no need to fear.
For of course autumn will be here next year.

"See you in the fall," you said.
I nodded disappointed
And then
Sat under shade,
Through too hot days,
Painting skin white
With cheap sun lotion,
Clinging to the notion
That you would return.

Leaves relinquished green
Licked at yellow,
Dipped into orange,
And bared their brown.
Pale tan regained
Its purple-grey
And you never returned.

I remember waiting,
Anticipating
The coming days before
And of previous summer's lore

Every year I knew
That the sky's bright blue
Would soon be home to wind
A signal of when fall begins

Birds flying in the sky
And Christmas shopping by
The end of October
Thanksgiving Hangovers

Ah, yes, the days ahead
And the great times they embed
I know not what awaits me now
But fun and fall, oh boy, oh wow.

The season of joy is coming to an end.
A now open sore in which even god cannot mend.
As good times and memories come to a halt,
we all wish that the ending could be corrected, a fixed fault.

The season of life has ended.
Life has fallen, like the city of Troy could not be defended.
The light of our season that once was, has finally dimmed.
The knowledge of love and life. Not even skimmed.

I wish thee farewell, my lovely heated weather.
The time of shorts and t-shirts is done.
While it lasted, however, it was fine.
I'll be right back - gotta go put on a sweater.

I'm not very familiar with Humpty Dumpty however I remember him from Carroll's book: Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There.
