I just added another 512 DDR ram card to my computer. Same model DDR400 same size as the other one (so now i have 2x512).System properties sees only 512 while System information sees 1024mb. I also installed another program SIW that also tells me that there is another RAM card there. I can read the speed mb and everything but since system properties sees only 512 i'm preety sure that only half of my 1gb is used.Any solutions ? Thx. |

are you sure your operating system can handle it? My mom's old Sony VAIO is maxed out at 512 so you may want to check on that also, make sure you put it in the correct slot on your motherboard, assuming there are others still empty. You'll want to check the manual for your motherboard to see these details. |

It wouldn't really effect the RAM, but why haven't you upgraded to SP3 yet? XD Right click on "My Computer". You can do this from either the desktop or from your Start Menu. Go to "Properties". I'm assuming you've done this, because you can see how much RAM your system has from this pop-up. Click and open the 'Hardware' tab. The first button in this section should be Device Manager. Look for a yellow question mark. You'll most likely see your RAM in this category. The thing is, websites can detect the model, size, etc of your plugged in RAM, but without the drivers for it, your computer won't run it. If you DO see your RAM in there, right click on it and press 'update driver(s)'. Do everything automatically from the internet. You may end up having to download the drivers manually from the manufacturers website. Most businesses do so. If you DON'T see your RAM in there, I honestly can't tell you what the error would be without being there myself. XD |
