I just got a domain name and would like it to be a permanent url instead of a redirection url, how would I go about doing this?

-Redirection Link

I do not want it just to redirect but to stay instead, every time I tried to make this a cname so I can support it it keeps coming up as

Quote:

The domain name is invalid. Please use ASCII only, other characters á, á, ã, ä are not supported.

-Actual Domain
[http://z6.invisionfree.com/Ravenw00d/index.php?]

if someone could help me out, or if you need any more info to actually help me out please comment below or private message me. your help would be very much appreciated. :)

What exactly are you entering into the form in your 1and1 control panel? It should be z6.invisionfree.com, nothing more.

You must point the domain at z6.invisionfree.com with a CNAME record.

Go into your control panel for your domain and change the DNS settings until you have done this. It has to be a CNAME, remember that.

Once this is done, it can take 24/48 hours for the DNS list to be updated. You simply need to log into your admin control panel and go to Domain Manager.

You will then need to go to Add Domain Name:

Quote:

Domain:
Example: forums.example.com
You do not need to add a separate www.forums.example.com record.

Note "you do not need to add www".

Simply add your domain into this and click submit. If it fails, you have either added the domain wrong, or you need to wait longer for the CNAME to point to the server.

Hope this has helped.

Another thing: once you have successfully added the domain, if you look up a bit from the "add domain name", you'll see "set primary domain".

The primary domain will be used for the links within your board.
Remember this Admin CP URL as you can undo this change if there are any problems.

You must choose the domain you entered from that drop-down menu and click "Set primary domain". ^_^
