Can we cross out Watchmen and just say Alan Moore? Pretty much every movie based on an Alan Moore graphic novel has been published by DC. |

I doubt it with their recent successes and licensing deals for sequels, but I guess you never know. |

There has only been 1 success in the past 2 years. And that was Iron Man. Hulk underperformed. Fantastic Four 2, Spider-Man 3 and Wolverine: Origins all suffered as well. Granted, Spidey drew in audiences for a large opening weekend, but after that, it sort of dropped. Compare that with juggernaut that is the Dark Knight and you'll notice it knocked Iron Man out of theaters after a while and then stayed in theaters longer (thus gobbling up more $) add in the Imax showing and the encore imax showing AFTER the dvd came out, and Dark Knight blew Iron Man away. As to Hulk, it pretty much crushed that movie from July on. Hulk had maybe 1 or 2 weeks in June and then it was just blown away. That's movies. Turn to television and you have only 3 marvel cartoons right now. 2 are excellent and 1 is getting there but they are fairly new. Spectacular Spider-man also had the trouble of finding a cable provider after WB became CW and the kids line up changed. It eventually found its way to ... you guessed it: DISNEY XD where several other older marvel cartoons (X-Men: The Animated Series, the 90's Animated Spider-Man, Spider-man Unlimited, X-Men Evolution, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, the Fantatic Four, Spider-man and his amazing friends). The other two: Iron Man: Armored Adventures and Wolverine and the X-Men are on Nickelodeon and the latter at least is doing quite well. Marketing has really only started for these lines and the same for DVD sales. Turn to direct to DVD animated projects and the most recent ones (Next Avengers and Hulk VS.) didn't fair nearly as well as the DC ones (Wonder Woman, Green Lantern: First Flight) Marketing, perhaps the only thing that is going well according to collectors at least is the new Marvel Universe action figure line. But again, that's new and just really started in March. Go to their main source: Comics and things are much more grim. The Brand New Day Spider-Man storyline divided a lot of fans and many stopped picking up the book. Many others grew tired of the continued crossover events after the recent Secret Invasion and now the Dark Rein stories. Many hate the current incarnation of key characters (Tony Stark, Reed Richards, Peter Parker and Charles Xavier spring to mind). Others have issue with lesser known characters and their on going series (Ms. Marvel and Black Panther both sell poorly). The Ultimate Universe, perhaps the only thing selling reasonably well, was just shook up by an crossover that was beyond words for how bad it was. Characters were killed off in the most gruesome way and many just stopped buying. Characters popular with the fans (Spider-Girl) have had their series cancelled. The main lines (Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, and X-Men) are either too complicated or too depressing for readers to follow. The "reboot" of Spidey in BND caused more harm than good for many fans. And then, you compare it to DC. They have Dark Knight. They have Green Lantern cast and they have several successful Direct to DVD movies for more mature fans. For the kids, they have Batman the Brave and the Bold. For the teens: they have Smallville. Both shows also pay plenty of service to the fans with the stories and so they net that audience as well. But the big one, comics, are actually doing quite well. Green Lantern and Flash each net a large group of readers. Superman's New Krypton also does well. Perhaps the one that is most interesting is the current run with Dick Grayson as Batman. It's ironic that Marvel celebrates 70 years by selling to Disney. Batman celebrated his anniversary by being dead.

I lol'd. I am definately not going to see a Marvel movie now. Anything affiliated with Disney is bound to go wrong...look at SquareEnix. |

Nicolas enjoyed Kingdom Hearts (I and II... Chain of Memories failed), so I fail to see your point.

I'm just biased against Disney. Pay me no mind. ![]() Tbh SquareEnix fell off long before the KH stuff, imo. I can't wait to play Marvel vs Disney. I am so gonna pick Donald Duck every time. |

I think a few times gargoyles did make an appearance on Disney Channel, mostly on The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. That's as far as they'll go with strange things though. I do think that Disney doesn't have as many male fans, since I always see references on the channel aimed at the female persuasion.

I personally don't allow anything with Disney on it, or made by Disney into my house. I will go as far to throw people out the door if they bring any of that filth into my house. So I'm not really in favour of this move. I can see some very very very bad movies in the near future... |

x_x I don't think they could do it justice. Then again - they could hire the same type of directors and actors as Marvel was. Disney is just the producer, really, so maybe they could do a good job.. They better keep the $##*in' Marvel splash screen on the start up of the movies though. XD |
