Referring to the same auto-merger that was used in your above post.

And this is what I've found:

1. If you make a new topic, and then post in it again and again, it's only merging in groups of two.

2. If you make a new post to a topic someone else replied to last, again it's only merging in groups of two.

3. If you make a new post to a topic you replied to last a long time ago, it merges apparently endlessly.

It seems to have something to do with the cutoff. *goes to test some more*
Nemomon is very and very stupid :). I thought You are talking about possibility to combine posts xD

Oooh, here's what happens :D

If merging is set to "Merge posts and bump topic" merging happens in groups of two.

If merging is set to "Merge posts and don't bump topic" merging happens continuously.

... please tell me my discovery wasn't utterly redundant

It wasn't

For not spamming this topic I'll say, since amount of time we can attach more files than one per posting page...

That's interesting, but hopefully eventually it will merge more than two posts whilst also bumping the topic.
As it is I've had a few people ask me why the topics aren't appearing as bumped on the index page but only from forum view.

Yeah, I would love for it to endlessly merge and bump...not just merge and bump sets of two posts at a time.

For some reason the 'fast reply' has stopped working for some of our members (including me) on our board since the last upgrade. Now when you click it you just get taken to the 'full reply screen' regardless, and the link for both functions is the same. I don't know why it's happening or why it only effects some members, but any help to get it reinstated for everyone would be great.

The recent upgrades also destroyed some of our customisations, like additional font colours etc, and I was wondering if anyone else had lost similar things?

Edit to fix icky typo

Ditto this on the fast reply. It was only affecting around half of our members (myself included) until recently and now it is affecting all of them. Would love to know if there is something that can be done to reinstate functionality of it as it's causing some irritation!

edited because i cant spell either *sigh*

IE6 users may have a problem with fast reply. You should encourage those that can to update their version.

We're working on updating fast reply so that it will work with IE6 in the future.

Will be the bug with unpinning pinned topics (instead op "unpin topic", it is still only "pin topic") anytime solved?

Thanks Brian, I'm so relieved to know it's being worked on. :) Even now I keep forgetting that the fast reply doesn't work, so I write my message, hit 'add reply' and then close the bloody window before it's posted... losing the message.

However - it's not just IE6. I use IE7 and have the same problem. I haven't tried it out in Firefox yet though, I'll give that a squizz.

It is fine on Firefox. It appears to just be affecting IE6 & 7, as my IE8 users have no problems. I encouraged most of my users to switch to firefox, since it's a safer browser anyways. :) Most, that can, have upgraded, and the others just deal with it. It's not a huuuge problem, right now.

Nikkia's right, it's not a huuuuuuuuuuuuuge problem, but it is kind of annoying. Basically if it can be fixed it would be lovely.
While I know that Firefox is more popular than Elvis kittens it's really slow on my (old) computer, slower than IE; so (for now) I'm stuck with it.
Uh huh-uh.
