I found this video on the BBC News site, which was actually quite a shock to me. I assumed Facebook made hundreds of thousands of dollars from their social networking megasite, but apparently they barely earn more than covering the costs of running the service.

Not too surprising to me since I remember hearing at one point there was discussion about making users pay $1 per month to keep using facebook. But it is good to hear revenues are going up so that step will not be necessary.

I'm not a facebook junkie - indeed, I never even go on it - so I wouldn't know if they already do this, but if they put more ads on the page, they would generate more revenue most likely.

I'm sure there are a lot of accounts that people don't use. I never understood why they wanted to clean up inactive accounts, but that makes sense now. Interesting indeed that they haven't profited.
