Question about the Global Support Team

First off, I wasn't sure if this should go here, or in one of the feedback forums, so if it's in the wrong place, feel free to move it

Second, I apologize if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find it because, if I understand correctly, the Search function doesn't work after a certain number of posts are made... (assuming I read that post that I can't find now, correctly). Also, I wasn't ready to look through 541 (or more) pages of topics to find the answer.

Anyways, I'm just wondering - are members of the Global Support Team expected to know a relatively equal share of information about both Zetaboards and Invisionfree, or are there members in this group that specialize in one, but know little about the other?

Not really. Some of us know a particular software better than the other, but it's not a definite requirement to have an in-depth knowledge of both. If one of us knew IF better for example, then we'd just pick up ZB stuff over time. But with skin/theme stuff it can get a tad confusing switching between the two of them with the vastly different CSS and the fact IF has an outdated doctype, so I personally spend my time doing ZB theme related support, including general stuff if lots of other staff are busy.
We just share the workload, I suppose. One may do more of one particular software one week and do more of the other the next. Or both equally.

Nicola wonders if the above wasn't really that helpful xD

Actually that was just what I was looking for, and even a little more than I expected. Thanks. :)

Take myself for example, I know and love the InvisionFree service; and spend my time supporting the users of that particular software.

When it comes to ZetaBoards, there are more questions I can't answer. I'm not one for responding within the General - ZB section .. (Although I spent a few weeks in there, but was mostly closing topics). :P

I know nothing about domain names, so stay clear of those areas.

That's where I enter the battlefield.

I'm pretty much a general IF and ZB guy. I know both of the platforms well. My weak spot is themes and codes. I leave that for the theme goddesses.

Nice thread. It's good to know what specific areas the staff are most familiar with. Other than Nicola, I really don't have a clue.

My strengths quickly change depending on which service needs more attention. My focus stays primarily on ZetaBoards, although I know an equal amount about InvisionFree in the event we experience a sudden influx of tickets. Unlike Jonathan or Nicola, I wouldn't say I have a specific area of expertise. Recently I have taken up the Forum Violations front, and I usually process user-submitted abuse reports before doing any type of support.

Same here. I have no idea what I'm doing here. :P (Other then spamming the staff area, but we all do that so me doing it is somewhat redundant.)

I do however remember something from a PM Nicola sent me once: 'I thought "I bet Jory knows, because Jory seems to know lots of random stuff about browsers etc" ' Not that I managed to solve that ticket. :P

He's being modest: Jory usually comes out of nowhere to answer the tickets the rest of us are stumped on or don't have the patience to deal with.
