I am working on a small project and was just making a simple setup with two side-by-side divs by floating the one to be on the right, and IE7 (well, IE8 compatibility mode), FF3.5, and Chrome render it perfectly. I flip the switch back to IE8 rendering and the beauty goes *poof*. Honestly, why can't they just adopt a good rendering engine instead of messing with their own? Trident is a grade-A PoC.
It's also a good chewing gum. :P
Microsoft won't adopt anything . Stuck in their old ways.

Are you sure you're not just doing hacky IE-specific things that older versions needed and IE8 is trying to use those as well? Is the DTD correctly set to strict XHTML? IE8 should render your website just as well as other browsers. It really has improved that much, as far as rendering CSS2 goes. If you don't believe me, check out the acid2 test in both compatibility and standards modes. :p

I'm pretty sure, considering it renders perfectly in everything BUT IE8.

I felt it looked exactly like IE7. Except for that extra toolbar which name escapes me right now.
Well yes, plus they changed the tab bar to that vile, pale blue colour, which clashes completely with the toolbar above. Double yuck yuck.
I think the tabs are the only decent thing about IE 8, I mean, you can colour them so they're pink :O .

But in Firefox you can get a theme that is entirely pink.

Which is evil.

Individual application theming is a terrible feature. Everything *must* look native or it is worthless~! :p

Meh. I prefer the Chrome Basic theme over the default theme, both of which class with the Zune theme I'm using for XP (which is only, what, the fourth official color scheme for XP, not counting Classic?).
