It's as though MS has to do better (than the existing competition) with every single one of their products/services to not fail. "Yeah, Bing is just as good as Google, but it isn't better, therefore MS fails miserably."

It's called being part of a free market, if you don't innovate and do something better then the competitors you have a tendency to fail, by being just as good as Google you are not going to draw Google's users over to Bing, if you were better then Google you would have a better chance of drawing over Google's users. ;)

"Don't fix it if it isn't broken" is the slogan that will keep many people from migrating from Google to Bing.

Although, I must admit, their commercials are quite compelling. Good advertising there, really. :P

I don't see that happening to any company/corporation other than MS though. $200 says Apple could release something that's exacty like the Zune, or Windows, throw an "i" infront of it, and have hordes of people throw away their college savings just to have it.

Bing loads just as fast as Google for me, looks nicer, and has a couple of nifty features (playing a clip of a video when you hover over it) that I don't see on Google. It doesn't give me a headache like Google does (with the white background), and it does exactly what I expect it to do (return a list of results for whatever I decide to search). If anything, it's better than Google (even if it's by a small margin, based on personal taste).

That being said, I'm still going to use Google. Why? I honestly don't know. Maybe it's because I'm so used to using it, and whenever I want to look something up on the internet, I automatically type Google into my address bar without knowing it. I'm sure thousands of people do exactly the same thing, and for whatever reason, decide to jump on the "MS sucks" bandwagon anyway.

Personally if M$ puts it out I won't use it, plain and simple.
If your using a Mac, or Windows Computer, you are using something made by microsoft (yes everyone, BG made the Mac base system). So only if you're using Linux with your own custom made internet browser, is won't be MS'.

I believe Bill Gates may have had a small influence on some Macs, but it was probably just that: a base. Not made by Microsoft. But by Bill Gates. There is quite a difference. ;)

I like Bill Gates, in fact. However, I generally dislike Microsoft products and engines. I use Windows because quite frankly my dad hates Apple, so...plus, I like parts of the Windows interface better. Still, I don't use IE or bing, never will. Didn't use Live Search either. The only MS product I frequently use is Windows Live Messenger, but that has become a necessity. :D

I really hate the bing interface with those weird little backgrounds...it looks horrible. And it changes weekly...nothing to get used to.

Just to throw it out there, MS sent me an email about it through a web hosting account I have with them saying it was released for beta, and about five minutes later, I saw a commercial for it on tv :P Therefore, either they didn't plan it at all, or it is no different from live except for having new pictures xD
