Google Chrome; It rocks!

Chrome was horrible, it had less website readability than IE 8 (could not look at ZB default theme in Chrome), it is slow, and blocks every site (including Google itself). Now google wants to release an OS with Chrome, that'll just suck big time.

davadude, what on Earth did you do to make Chrome suck that much? :P

Grant A., Google stated (pretty much everywhere) that the goal of Chrome wasn't to become the dominant browser, but to improve the internet experience in general. They wanted to prove their ideas made sence so others would look at them and hopefully implement them.
If that is the truth is another question. Maybe they had to use some dirty hacks to get things to work, hacks that they couldn't port to other platforms. I don't know.

And now they've officially announced Chrome OS. Looks like it's gonna be good for netbooks since they've said it's basically Chrome running on a Linux kernel, open source, completely free. I think the open source movement is really going to get a boost from this now that a major company is getting behind it, one that is in most everyone's lives these days.

It can't display CSS correctly whereas FF and even IE do. :\ Until they fix that I won't want it.

... Where did you even read that? Really, I'd like to know, since Chrome renders every page as perfectly as Firefox does from all that I've used it.

It uses the webkit rendering engine, one of the best rendering engines around, it's widely regarded to be as good as, if not better, than firefox's gecko.

Well that's sad when FF and even IE, THAT'S RIGHT IE can display the skins on my forum correctly and Chrome has it all screwed up. Everyone I talked to has said the same as well, saying it's pretty much only good for basic HTML sites.

Not for me, it can't render borders used on ZB skins none of the skins I've viewed for ZB have working borders on Chrome, it screws them all up. Things were nice until Chrome came and fudged it all up. I used to hate IE with a passion for its inability to display CSS correctly but they fixed that in IE8.

Heck all of my skins look like crap in Chrome but perfectly fine in FF and IE and there is absolutely no reason why it should not work as good. Some things don't even appear in Chrome. I hate it and I realize that it's my skin CSS that is the problem, but if the darned things look fine in everything else(even Opera/Safari) why can't it look nice in Chrome? If Chrome is supposed to be so much better, I'll take the less good ones because at least skins look decent using it.

Check this theme, Pulse, out. See that part I circled? That's not supposed to be there and Chrome screws it all up by not only displaying it but not doing it inline.

Posted Image

Now check this out... The simple drop down code that I use on my forum is all screwed up! Chrome doesn't do CSS right, look how it messes this up.

Posted Image

When it should be a drop down menu, like this... Also notice on the chrome picture above how the borders on the side do not appear?

Posted Image

Now another crap up by Chrome. Look at the way it does my copyright... It's not centered, no background img, nothing. When in the CSS it is clearly supposed to have that...

Posted Image

Now in FF, this is how the copyright is supposed to look and this is default... Standard... This is looking how it should be in cooperation with the CSS and again you can see how the borders do NOT work in the Chrome shot.

Too bad that not everyone uses IE8 yet. Making your web pages look good in all browsers is half the fun. Don't get mad. Get glad.

Odd, seeing as Safari also uses Webkit for its rendering engine, but from what I last heard, Chrome is using a more outdated version. Correct me if I'm wrong on that last statement. I'm interested. Can you put that skin on a test board and post the link? I wanna see if I get the same results.

EDIT: Oops! I see you already have a link there. My bad.

Yes but they still look good in IE6/7 as well, there may be a few glitches but over all much better looking than in Chrome. I haven't gone lower into IE4 or anything, but I know some people don't even have IE6 yet.

considering that as of june 2008, the amount of people using IE5 was 0.5% of the tubes, (down 0.2% from the 0.7% of the month before, and the month before that it went down 0.3% from 1%), going by that negative correlation IE5 stopped being used last... october? That's almost a year ago. I think it's safe by now to assume nobody uses below IE6 now. ;p
