You can do this by going into a forum and clicking the "New Announcement" link near the board clock. |

I believe they are asking for the ability to turn a normal topic into an announcement. You would have to ask, however, what would happen to the replies of that topic? What if there was a poll in that topic? Would this information just be lost? There's a lot to consider in something like this. |

Maybe it could be like the split topic option, so it keeps a copy of the topic, but makes a separate announcement containing the first post, and a link to the topic. |

Yeah exactly viral . If that option of making a topic as an announcement this could be a Zeta's biggest new update more if conversations would take place . And i am sure this would be more populated . |

But couldn't you simply copy and paste the information?

It only takes seconds to copy and paste though... |

it's little features like these that add up to improve the overall experience though... |

Unfortunately, it's also little features like that that take time away from larger, more necessary features.

If I want feedback on an announcement I just include a link to a pinned topic in the announcement itself. |

That's generally how we do it here as well, although we usually don't have to create the topic. One of you users is helpful enough to do that fairly quickly

I would still love the ability to, once an announcement has run it's course, either turn it into a normal topic or be able to trash it rather than only deleting. |

Implementing something like this actually sounds a bit easier.
Ultimately, Brandon has to decide. New features have to be considered carefully before being given a "yes" or "no" answer. |

yeah, I would rather keep an archive, you know....rather than delete announcements, I'd like to keep em for future reference. |
