Mine! Or I will help you not.

Perhaps the single greatest feature of Zetaboards is the inclusion of a Report Control Panel. This tool cuts down the workload for our staff tremendously. Rather than go looking for violations and missing things, our wonderful members report items requiring our attention. From anywhere on the board we can then see if there is a new report requiring our attention and deal with it swiftly.

The Report CP has quickly become an essential part of the Support board. However, the only way it can work is if members use it correctly. We know that members wish to help us and we welcome that help. But rather than post in topics or contacting staff via PM, we ask that users use the Report CP for Board Rule violations or just items that require the attention of the staff.

This topic is designed to explain situations when to use the Report CP and situations that don't require a report.

What situations should go to the Report CP?

Our Board and Forum rules list several items that need to be reported. I have listed them in order of importance.

Abusive or Threatening Posts

We take any threats against our members very seriously. In addition to using the Report CP, a PM should also be sent to an Administrator.

Nudity, Profanity or other Adult Content

In addition to a Report, a PM should be sent to an online Community Moderator, the Community Admin or a Support team member.

Posts containing personal or harmful information

Any post containing a member's personal information should be removed immediately. These include posting IP Address, Credit Card, Social Security, Home Address, Phone Number etc. A PM should be sent to an online Community Moderator, the Community Admin or a Support team member.

The above cases are the extreme cases. Most of the time, you will be using the Report CP for more minor issues.

These include:

Excessive Bumping

Our Rules allow members to bump their topic once every 24 hours. If you see a member who has bumped their topic several times in less then 24 hours, you should report the offending post.

Impersonating Staff Members

Many times there are members that overstep their boundaries and take it upon themselves do the job of our staff. Unfortunately, this tends to cause friction between those looking for support and these members. While it is ok to answer the question and then tell the user to read the Board Rules in the future, posts that only tell a user to read the rules and provide no support are not acceptable.

In addition, there are members who ask for items they shouldn't. No member should ask for Admin Control Panel access or claim to be a staff member of this board. Any posts containing such content should be reported.

Topics in the wrong forum

New members often don't know where their problem belongs. So they make a topic in the wrong forum. Rather than tell the member they posted in the wrong place, it's more helpful if a report is submitted telling the staff where the topic should be. We'll then look at the topic and move it to the appropriate area.
