What Does and Does Not Belong in Technology Chat

The Technology Chat forum is for technology related topics. Discussion pertaining to technological support, questions, and general tech chats go here.

What belongs in Tech Chat

Technology Chat is where you may discuss any Tech related non-Zetaboards topic you desire (Bearing in mind that it must follow the board rules and Staff can remove any topic they think unnecessary). For example: Php 5.2, the Linux Operating System, Monthly Desktop topics, History of Technology, RIAA, If you want to debate aspects of Technology such as "what is better Mac OS X or Unix?" We ask that "fanboy" type comments (such as Mac OSX Pwns, it is just better etc) are not used, and use "Mac OS X is better because it is more user friendly to first time computer users, blah blah blah" Debates that involve tech but also hold moral issues belong in Java Hut.

What does NOT belong in Technology Chat

Although video game and browsers are popular topics we've all seen that these discussions can quickly disintegrate and get in the way of other topics. With that in mind, we'd ask that you refrain from posting topics like "Which browser/video game system/video game is the best". If you'd like you can discuss technical details of one or the other, or ask a support question, but please try to keep it to that. Thanks for understanding.

The talking of downloading (or ways to) content illegally is prohibited. Nor is this a web design feedback form.

Examples of what is allowed

Firefox 3 release. (no trolling, or trying to convert people to another browser, criticism is okay)
List your PC specs
IE 7 displaying errors help! (non ZB/IF related)
Xbox 360 vs PS3 (No "fanboy" posts, such as "Xbox has HALO", or "PS3 SUCKS", Java Hut style please)
Help computer problems.

What is not allowed:

Halo vs Call of Duty 3
Firefox vs IE vs Opera
Who has an Xbox?
Rate my site/graphic.
Graphic Requests
MPAA/RIAA Debates (belongs in Java Hut)

Advertising and Affiliation
As per the Board Rules, the only way you may promote your forum/website/forum software is through your signature. Topics advertising your board/website/forum software are strictly prohibited. In addition, making topics asking for Affiliates counts as advertising and is also prohibited. If either of these topics are made, they will be removed. If you continue to make these topics, you will be punished.

Support
When asking for support we want to remind you that our users generally are not professionals nor certified, Although our user base may have a better understanding of computers and how they work then most people we ask that you take their advice with caution and research the problem also. Should you follow the advice of a member you do so at your own risk.
