Does work with IE but IE is pretty dodgy with it.
This shows in your favs list but not the address bar, in the addressbar you get the crappy invision icon. I assume its been overwritten.

Struggled to get it to work on my IE browser but finally got it.

Here is a useful explanation: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default....hortcutIcon.asp

The key seems to be 16x16

I used http://www.fileden.com/]fileden.com as host server.

EXPLAINED SIMPLY.

What I did:

I saved an image I wanted onto my computer. Just a simple 100x100 .gif icon I found on google images.

Then I went to this site (which was absolutely fantastic) and uploaded it there. It turns the .gif into .ico. There's then the option to download it, which I did.

It's a zip file so you need a program like WinRAR to unzip it.

Once I unzipped the .ico file I saved it to My Documents.

Then I went over to my website at Bravehost and uploaded it. Simple.

Voila. I have a URL.

Then I copied this
Quote:

<link rel="SHORTCUT ICON" href="http://yourhostname/favicon.ico"/>

into Administration CP > Skinning & Styles > Board Wrappers > Javascript.

It's simple, guys.

And there you have it. The dumbass's guide to favicons.

It took a few minutes to show up in IE.

Thanks a bunch for this code, btw. I've been using it for a while.

Hi this is really a great idea but putting it in the Javascript section isn't really going to help. For me the best way was to put it in the Header are right on top of the <% BOARD HEADER%> section. Trust me it is the best place to put it if you dont want the circle with the I in it. :P

Also if I am wrong sorry guys, but it worked on my forum.
