First, you need to download the Emoticon (or Smilie) to your computer. There should be instructions at the site you are visiting. If not, follow mine:

Quote:

Windows users: Right click on the emoticon (or smilie) and choose "Save Picture As...". Choose a location on your computer (remember where that is since you will need to know it later on) and then click Save.

Macintosh users (Mac OS 9 and earlier): Click and hold over the emoticon (or smilie). There should be an option there to Save. Move the mouse down to it and let go. Choose a location on your computer (remember where that is since you will need to know it later on) and then click Save. I don't remember any details since I haven't been using a Macintosh for a while, but if you would like to contribute, please PM me. Thanks.

Mac OS X users: Control Click on the emoticon (or smilie). Then click save image to disk. The image is automatically dowloaded to the desktop.

Note to ALL: Most programs support drag & drop. So you can click & drag the image you want to the desktop or a visible window or a visible folder.

To use the new Emoticon (or Smilie), go to

Admin CP ›› Administration ›› Manage Emoticons

At the bottom of the page you'll find the option, "Upload an Emoticon to the emoticons directory." Click the "Browse..." button and find the file on your computer. Once found, single click it and then click on "Open...."
Proceed by clicking "Upload Emoticon."

Now to set this as a usable Emoticon (or Smilie). Under "Add a new Emoticon" type in the the text you wish to use such as :matrix: and then in the drop down list, choose your uploaded Emoticon. Now choose either Yes or No for Clickable (it shows up next to the post box). When you are done, click "Add Emoticon."

If you're looking for emoticons/smilies to use, take a look at the Emoticon Resources topic.
