Adding Global Moderators

A global moderator (or "super moderator") is essentially a member that has moderation privileges for the entire board. If you would like to add a moderator for a specific forum, please see this documentation on how to do so.

Creating the Permission Mask (optional)

The first step is optional, and involves creating a permission mask for the global moderator group. You will need to do this if you want global moderators to be able to see forums that an ordinary user cannot.

Admin CP > Forum Control > Permission Masks

Find the Create a new forum mask section and type whatever you want to name the new mask in the Permission Mask Name section. One example would be Global Moderator Forum Mask. Once you have named the new mask, select Member Forum Mask from the Inherit forum permission mask from... drop down box, and then click the Create button.

Creating the New Group

The second step involves creating the actual group.

Admin CP > Users and Groups > Manage User Groups

Find the Add a new member group section, and select Members from the Base new group on... drop down box. Once you have done so, click the Set up New Group button.

Type whatever you would like to name the group in the Group Title field, and select the permission mask you just created in the last step for the Use Forum Permission Access... section.

Note: If you chose not to create a new permission mask, you can just use one of the default masks such as Members.

You can set the other options to what you feel is appropriate for your forum. Once you get to the Moderation Permissions section, set Is Super Moderator (can moderate anywhere)? to Yes. Once you have finished setting up the group, click the Add Group button at the bottom of the page.

Adding Users to the Group

The last step involves moving members into your new group.

ACP > Users and > Find/Edit/Suspend User

Find the Member Quick Search, and type all or part of the name of the member you want to promote in the Enter part or all of the user's name field.

Once you have found the member you want to edit, click the Edit Details link in the row next to their name. Find the Member Group section, and select the group you just created from the drop down box. Once finished, click the Edit this member button at the bottom of the page.
