Administrators Changing Their Email Address; Avoid doing so via My Controls

If you are an administrator and you need to change your email address, use the following method:

Admin CP ›› Find/Edit User ›› Search for Your Name ›› Edit Details.

Find the Email Address field in the Contact Info section to your new email address. When you are finished, click Edit this member.




This is because changing your email address through My Controls ›› Options ›› Change Email Address puts you at risk of losing your administrative powers. When changing your email address, the forum automatically moves you to the Validating group until the new address is confirmed. If you were to accidentally mistype your new email address, and weren't able to confirm it through the activation link, you would be without administrative powers.
