 Personally, I don't believe guns should be banned. Here in the UK you need a lisence and a VALID reason to own one in the first place and regular police officers don't carry them - but even in other nations where it's perfectly legal to own a weapon, I don't think they should be banned.

I think that if you want to shoot, shoot a wooden target, or a clay target - not people. Hell, it makes more mess to shoot a person, and if you end up with blood on your clothes, it doesn't come out easily.

To some people, shooting is a sport. You shoot clay pigeons and it can be an enjoyable passtime, even theraputic (or so I hear). Why should we ruin some people's livelihoods just because a bunch of people think it's okay to go round firing their bullets into someone else's brains?

Because that's not okay. It's not cool. Go and shoot an inanimate object if you're filled with that much rage.

But, the point of my post here, is: no, I don't believe guns should be banned. Yes, I do believe there are ways around this whole mess with people carelessly and thoughtlessly shooting at each other.

 If you restrict weapons, the bad people will still get them. It will only prevent good people like me from protecting my girlfriend, wife, family, etc. from the guy breaking into my house, trying to kill me and them.

 Some drugs are illegal in the US. Police and other investigators try their best to crack down on the dealers and users. There is still much of it going around in the US. These laws just make it harder for those who need Marijuana and such medically, as SkyDiver is saying.

There are still far, far less shootings in countries where guns are illegal though.
