 Creating Private Forums

This documentation will show you how to create a forum that can only be read by pre selected groups. For example, if you wanted to create a Moderators forum and you wanted to hide it from everyone else except for the moderators group.

Note (Step 0): This documentation assumes that you have already created a moderator usergroup and permission mask. Of course, this might not be the case, so if you haven't yet done so, you can check out this documentation to find out how to create the moderator usergroup and permission mask - even if you aren't creating a moderator-type group, the documentation will still be relevant. :)

Step 1: Create The Forum
Visit your Admin CP ›› Forum Control ›› New Forum.
Set the forum options as you would like. Proceed to the next step when you reach the Permission Access Levels section.

Step 2: Set the Permissions
When you reach the bottom part, labeled: 'Permission Access Levels' make sure that only the Moderators group are ticked for 'Read', 'Reply', 'Start' & 'Upload' (Optional). So it should look like this.

What if I make a mistake, or want to go back and change something?
Don't worry! If you've already created the forum, you can still edit it by visiting Admin CP ›› Forum Control ›› Manage Forums ›› Permissions (Against the relevant forum). Now follow the instructions given in step 1.
