Work. Another of the assistants who started 2 months after me thinks she is 'all that' because she has done the first year of the Radiography degree course...but dropped out because her husband wanted a divorce and she has two kids yadda yadda yadda. She tries too hard at the time and ends up lacking in common sense with some things: 1. Trying to write up consent forms for next day patients. If they don't turn up, it's a waste of paper. I mentioned this to her and she said in a cocky manner 'People like it when I do it'. Then did it for another day.. until one of the superintendents told her not to do it. 2. Another thing she was told not to do: draw up expensive contrast in a large batch for the full day's list of patients, again not accounting for the fact that often one patient a day does not turn up, that their renal function would allow them to have the contrast in the first place, that they're a child requiring a smaller dose or something weaker. 3. She decided she'd run around the department for an hour last week trying to order more contrast, suggesting that we ought to be doing it, ignoring another assistant when she told her one of the supers does it every month (she was on annual leave). So she managed to order £3000 worth of contrast... and guess what? The super had already ordered it. Now we'll end up with £6,000 worth of contrast. 4. She over-ordered on stock. Luckily it didn't arrive today (was meant to) but her stock order was ridiculous, like she never even checked the cupboard. So every time I try to teach her stuff she is quite rude and arrogant to me in an incredibly patronising, fake voice. Also having one of those days at work where people assume that being assistant means you're stupid and/or don't do anything substantial. Some of the Radiographers really do get on their high horse assuming that we really do want to make a career out of ordering stock and restocking the linen cupboard.. that we're not capable of any sort of intelligent thought. It can be really demoralising
